BAPTISM FAQ's

We believe baptism is the first step of obedience after you’ve made the decision to follow Jesus. It’s a public declaration of a personal decision-an outward expression of the inward change God has made in your life.

We know baptism can raise questions. You might be wondering why baptism matters, whether you should be baptized again, or if the method of baptism makes a difference. You’re not alone in those questions, and we’d love to walk with you as you explore them. Be sure to watch the baptism teachings above, and please feel free to reach out to one of our pastors if you’d like to talk more.

After you give your life to Christ. As soon as you have given your life to Christ and have received Him as your Savior, you can and should be baptized. If you wait until you’re “perfect,” you’ll never feel “good enough”. Jesus asks you to follow Him in baptism now.

The best way to determine if your child is ready to be baptized is to come to the baptism class. There, we will speak with you and your child to determine their level of understanding of the decision they are making.

A baptism class prepares someone to be baptized with understanding, faith, and obedience, not just participation in a ritual-but a clear declaration: “I belong to Jesus, and I am walking in new life.” If you are ready to be baptized, we invite you to this class, which takes place the week before our calendared baptisms. The class is located in our white office building from 10:00am-10:45am.

Your Testimony

As part of your baptism, we’ll invite you to share a short personal testimony. This is simply an opportunity to express what Jesus has done in your life. When you’re baptized, we’ll simply ask you to share a few words about your faith. At the very least, you’ll say:
“Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior.”

Please email your testimony to kandace@lifechurchmaine.org
by the Tuesday before your baptism so we can be prepared to celebrate this moment with you.

You’re welcome to bring notes with you into the baptismal.

What to Bring

What to Expect on Baptism Day

We’ll help guide you every step of the way.

When you arrive, please sit in the front two rows on the far right side of the auditorium.

  • As the person before you finishes, a team member will guide you forward.

  • You’ll introduce yourself and share your short testimony.

  • After you’re baptized, a towel will be handed to you as you come out of the water.

  • We’ll then direct you where to change before you return to the service to celebrate with your church family.

Please plan to stop by the Baptism table 30 minutes before service so we can check you in and answer any last-minute questions.
