All About Baptism
Please Watch Video First
The Bible clearly teaches that Baptism is the first step of obedience after making a commitment to Christ. Baptism allows a believer to communicate to the world their heart-felt decision to follow Jesus.
People often have questions regarding baptism: Why should I be baptized? I’ve already been baptized. Do I have to do it again? Does it matter if someone is sprinkled or immersed in the water?
If you have questions like these or any other questions regarding baptism, we are here to guide you. Be sure to check out our Baptism teachings above and please feel free to contact one of our Pastors with any follow-up questions.
Sharing a short, personal testimony is an important part of the Baptism process for both you and your church family. The minimum you need to say is “Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior.” We’re hoping you’ll add a few personal details, at most 6-7 sentences on how Jesus has changed your life.
Please email your testimony to kandace@lifechurchmaine.org by the Tuesday before your Baptism.
Please feel free to bring your notes into the Baptismal with you. The Pastor can take them when you’re done so they don’t get wet!
Things to bring:
1. A big towel to dry off with
2. Flip flops to help keep the carpet dry
3. Dry clothes to change into and a bag for your wet clothes
4. Camera for your family/friends to use
5. Copy of your testimony
If your family/friends have young children, encourage them to arrive early and check in to KidzLife. Children can come upstairs to see the Baptism and brought back to KidzLife after.
What to expect:
Please sit in the front 2 rows on the far right side of the church
When the person before you comes out of the tub, start moving towards the tub yourself
Be prepared to introduce yourself and give a short testimony
Bring your towel with you and give to the “towel person”, they will hand it to you when you come out of the Baptismal.
As you pass by the chairs, grab your dry clothes and head to the bathroom upstairs or downstairs to change.
Come back and enjoy the rest of the service!
Please meet at the Baptism table 30 minutes before Service.
